Band Information
Course Requirements:
The following events are REQUIRED for this course:

1.) Four football games (9/12, 10/3, 10/10, 10/31). Students report to the band room at 6:30 pm on game nights. Students are expected to stay and participate for the full length of each football game. Students participating in sports that correlate with the football game that make them unable to play in marching band will be graded 80% for lessons and 20% for band duirng that marking period.

2.) Three concerts (12/16, 2/24, 5/13). Students report to the band room at 7:00 pm for concerts. Students are expected to stay for the full length of each concert.

3.) NYSSMA Majors perfomance. Date T. B. A. (Usually in May)

4.) Memorial Day Parade (5/31). Memorial Day is the day that we remember all those lost in war. This is a very important event for our band because it involves our community and gives us all a chance to honor those who served our country and paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Dress for Football Games and the Memorial Day Parade is:
Band uniforms and black shoes/ sneakers (black socks suggested)

Dress for any concert is:
Ladies: dark dress, light blouse, dark shoes (pants permitted)
Gentlemen: dark pants, light shirt, tie, and dark shoes

An unexcused absence for any of the above events will result in a grade of zero for that event/ performance. That grade will be averaged into your overall participation grade for the quarter. If you know that you will not be able to participate in a required event/ performance, please provide a written note to Mr. Horner from a parent or guardian. The note should be written in advance (unless you are ill on the day of the performance) with reasons why you are unable to attend. If you are unable to attend a performance due to illness, provide a note on the next day that you attend school that explains the illness. (See Grading Procedures)
